Only the Best! (bchocolate, San Lorenzo, CA, 2008-03-11)

This is a well-thought out cookbook, perfect complement to any kitchen. I am an experienced cook so this book was not high on my list of necessary things in my cookbook collection. I must admit I have replaced my Betty Crocker Cookbook with this one. I really didn't use Betty Crocker but it was a good reference book. Well, this is an even better reference tool. It's right up there with Joy of Cooking and my old standby, the Better Home and Garden Gold Cookbook. I like the way this book is laid out. All the categories have some hidden tidbit about cooking that can and does help. There are more than enough pictures and the directlons are really child proof. I intend to pass this book along to my son when he eventually moves out on his own. In the meantime, I will continue to enjoy reading and learning along the way.

I received this as a gift and I absolutely love it. Comprehensive is a good word. So many great recipes, with detailed instructions and many of which have photos to go along. The recipes in it taste wonderful, and their are so many tips along the way. I have dozens of cookbooks, but this is the one that I always go to first. In the front of the book, there is a list of kitchen tool essentials, their use and America's Test Kitchen favorite brands, with the price, which is nice. It is a wonderful tool for any cook. It's like 5 great cookbooks in one, for 1/5 of the price. Great gift, but get one for yourself too!

If you enjoy cooking and want to prepare meals that are exceptional, this is the book to have on your countertop. I purchased this as a gift for my best friend as well as myself and we enjoy sharing comments about the recipes and informative tips and recommendations on tools that this book gives. Once you start, it is difficult to put the book down.

I've been looking for this book everywhere. It is a true kitchen staple. I've used probably a dozen recipes from this book, and the tips and advice they give make it well worth the price. Even if you're an experienced cook (of which I am not), surely you will find something of interest here.

This is an excellent cookbook-- lots of how-tos, photographs of the food, and a very diverse range of savory and sweet dishes. I purchased this book as a gift and the recipient was well pleased. Both of us are huge Cooks Illustrated fans. Great value for both experienced and beginning cooks.
