Sturdy and solid, but wrong color (mrmcgs, PA, 2008-06-09)

These counter stools were just what we wanted for a small area with not much space. They are sturdy and made well; however, we ordered the oak and were very disappointed with the color. They did not go in our oak kitchen at all. The stain is more like a fifties maple--very reddish. The seats also had 4 cheap-looking stained-on accents that I guess were supposed to make it look distressed. It distressed us, so we decided to sand the seats back to the natural wood and leave the legs as they were. The natural wood is very nice looking and the "distressed" look is gone. They look much better, but most people won't want to do this amount of work on a new product. We just didn't want to pay for shipping them back...more time than money. If you're going to buy these, go with the black or white.

Saddle Seat Barstools (AmberAKT, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, 2008-08-04)

I recommend the saddle seat bar stools. We ordered a set in the walnut finish. They are easy to assemble, we did it without the instructions. I agree with the previous posters that the little screw covers need to be hammered in with a mallet and you should use some wood glue just to make sure they don't come out. The only thing I would change are the grooves on the top of the seat. Each seat has four grooves that are an inch or so gouges in it that are on the edges. It is hard to describe, but I assume they are there to make the stools look more rustic. You can't see them until you sit on the stool, so it's not that big of a deal, but I think I would like them better without. Also, the legs could be a bit more substantial, but they were a very good deal. I recommend them!

Great Quality at a Great Price (Jonellann, Grand Rapids, MI, 2008-01-14)

I purchased these stools so that my children could sit at the counter and eat breakfast or do homework. They are better than I expected. I love the notches in the seat that give the stools a handmade look. This is not really visible in the online photo. I purchased the oak finish, and they are a warm honey oak color. They are heavy and sturdy. We have hardwood floors and we've had no trouble with them scratching the floors even with two young children who love to push them around the room. I'd highly recommend buying these! I looked at some stools that were similar in a bed and bath store, and they were not even close to the quality of these stools and they were the same price!

Great stools (hbeachcasa, h.b., ca, 2008-04-16)

I've been looking for this style stool for a couple months now. I went to every local furniture store around. Those that did carry them, the price was outrageous. I decided to buy two of these so I wouldn't be stuck with 4 if I was unhappy with them. I'm definitly going to buy 2 more. We got them within a week of ordering, even though it was Easter weekend, which was nice. It took maybe 1/2 hour to assemble both. They have worked out great! The only bad thing I could say about them, is the cross pieces of wood that you naturally use as a foot prop are a bit thin. Highly recommend these stools. Great weight, great look (I got the walnut), and awesome price!

Great value (TerriB1, Sacramento, CA, 2008-08-07)

These barstools are a great value. I shopped around quite a bit and was quite discouraged. I have a kitchen island and a high bartop on the other side so I needed 2 sets of different heights...these stools are perfect. Almost eveyone comments on them. They are also surprisingly comfortable. My only complaint would be assembly. The wrenching tool that comes in the package didn't work well for me. After one screw I was done. My husband used his powerdrill and had them together quickly. Overall I would definately buy them again.
