SVP Camcorder (dman99004, Spokane WA, 2008-05-18)

The item is OK and fills the requirement I had for a small lightweight camcorder for occasional use in a hurry. The digital zoom feature is available but the picture quality at anything past X2 is so poor as to make it useless. The focus when in camera mode is not very reliable and requires a lot of tinkering with the framing of the picture to get a viewable picture if the subject is very far away and is nearly impossible to get a clear picture if the frame area is very cluttered. For simple shots with the subject within 10 feet and a fairly clean frame (like a kids birthday party) it works fairly well. For taking ranged pictures (such as a graduation ceremony) is is better than nothing, but not by much. Add to that the relatively short battery life between charging when attempting to use it as a camcorder and you have a camcorder that is barely worth the price. The one feature that I really do like about the SVP is the removable media. With a 2gig card (purchased separate) there is not much chance you can run out of storage space before the battery is drained.
