Fantastic Purchase!! (Mars76, Chicago, IL, 2008-03-20)

I had previously purchased a "budget friendly" DVD Recorder from a big name department store. The product was difficult to use, set up & when it did record quality was not very good. Worst of all when the 1 year warranty expired, so did the product. I researched a few other DVD recorders on overstock & found this particular product had great reviews. Packaging, missing manuals,& remote seem to be a problem for some previous purchasers. The only one I can kind of agree is the remote is slow or non-responsive @ times. But I feel the quality of recordings, ease of use far outweighs the remote problem. I have been using it regularly & has been great so far. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a reasonable,easy to use, high quality DVD recorder.

Fantastic, but .... (lawtigr, , 2008-04-15)

I bought this recorder about 6 months ago. It was a little difficult to hook up but that was because of the tv I have and the fact that I also have a VCR that I wanted to have connected to the tv. The quality of the recordings made by the recorder were fantastic. The only thing that keeps me from giving it an overall score of 5 stars is that it recently stopped working. All of the sudden the recorder started making funny noises and ever since it's stopped recognizing ANY dvd. However, Philips has been fantastic to deal with and they are replacing the recorder for me, it's just disappointing that I'll have to deal without it for a month or so.

The value and quality were very satifactory but they never included the instructions on how to program the dvd automatically record or instructions to do a timed recording. i already had a dvd player/recorder butn the remote cannot be replaced nor fixed. Without the instructions i still do not have a recorder even though i bought one.to play my

Never Worked (jcr25, Sharon Hill, PA, 2008-01-13)

Unit shipped not working. Had to hold Remote within 6 inches from DVDR to work evrey second time a button was depressed. Second unit shipped was OK , but with same remote problem. Had to contact Philips Warrenty Overstock is Shipping the DVDR Recorder with the wrong remote.

Great picture on this product. Great value. Only problem is same as other comments on remote, have to aim right at it to work and at most 7-8 feet away.
