Artisan Story:

My name is Sangrawee Aphisawangroj and I was born on June 6, 1954 in Chiang Rai province. I am the eldest of seven children and we come from the Lahu hill tribe. When I was a child, hill tribe people didn't have a good standing in society and there weren't any schools where I lived, so I didn't go to one. Being a woman, according to Lahu traditions, I had to learn about my people's handicrafts, including weaving. My mother taught me, as well as other women in the village. I love to weave, sew and embroider, which is why I have been doing it practically my whole life. The work that I make celebrates Lahu lifestyle and traditions, so every piece is filled with my hill tribe's artistic details.

I love these tiny purses! (Ambug, Las Vegas, NV, 2008-03-26)

I have been searching for tiny purses exactly like this for several years now. It is exactly the right size for my cell phone, keys, lipstick, pen, paper. I like how it fits over my neck and shoulder to keep it secure when walking. No chance of someone grabbing it off of my arm when out and about. The strap is long enough to let it hang just the right length so it's not in my way when walking. I really like the detail of the design on each purse. They look great online, but even better in person. :) I am keeping these for myself and will be buying more for gifts.

These are brightly colored handmade bags. They are a perfect size for a cellphone, a lipstick, small billfold, and maybe a few other items. If you like "unique", this is it! No one else will have the same bag. These bags would be appropriate for all ages, from preteens to grandmothers.
