This was highly-rated by a national consumer review magazine, ahem, so I bought it . It does indeed drink up the water from the air and operate remarkably quietly, as advertised. But the design features are above and beyond the call. When you pull out the bucket, a handle is revealed that swings up for easy carrying. When you pour it into a sink, there is an angled and fluted pouring spout carved into one corner, so it never spills and drains both evenly and completely -- no residue left sloshing at the bottom. And when you want to clean it, as bits of mold and fungus grow on the standing water, the entire top panel detaches so you can reach in with a brush or dish cloth and give it a good scouring, even with big hands like mine. This company, of whom I had never heard, deserves high praise for excellent design of an outstanding machine.

This item is rated at a capacity of 65 pints. Where I come from, this converts to a little over 8 gallons. In reality, the "capacity" of the retention bucket is just over 2 gallons or 16 pints. If the 65 pints were true the weight of the water would be over 64 pounds or more than I care to lift. Overall, the unit does seem to work well but the spec's should be rewritten to reflect actual capacity. Also the 5 year warranty has been stamped with a "VOID" and a little slip of paper is enclosed explaining that the warranty is for 90 days only. Quite a drop from the 5 years printed in the owners manual.

excellent value! (jmcal, Simsbury, CT, 2008-07-31)

I purchased this refurbished dehumidifier after years of putting it off. This machine works great! Assembled in about 2 minutes, and it has done a super job on our musty basement. Only issue is that the instructions say not to use an extension cord, but the unit cord is really not that long. I have been using an extension cord until I can put in a new plug, and the unit is working fine. I would recommend this unit to anyone. It was certainly a value!
