Product Description

This ivory jasper ocean gemstone globe has been painstakingly assembled by hand using 37 different semi-precious stones from all over the world!

Our globe is 6 inches in diameter, mounted on a contemporary three-legged, polished bronze stand. At the bottom of the stand, there is a precise glass-topped integral bronze compass.

Each country is inlaid from a different, individually cut stone that has been polished and set into this exquisite piece of art--ivory, lapis lazuli, mother-of-pearl, amethyst, African jade, tiger's eye, jasper, turquoise, purple quartz, onyx, unakite, abalone and many other beautifully hued stones. The latitude and longitude lines are thin ribbons of brass, embedded through the globe.

This is the perfect gift for any world collector, or geography buff!

Impressive looking gift! (SwencoWest, Los Angeles, CA, 2008-01-28)

I ordered this for a partner of a law firm for whom I work. She can afford anything and everything on her own, so I was looking for something that would look nice with the color scheme in her office and that would "look" expensive. She is rather snooty and still managed to seem to like this. She was impressed when I told her about the various countries being made of gemstones. The only downside is that it does not come with info about the gemstones nor an outline of which country is which stone. That would greatly improve the Wow factor of this gift. I highly recommend for the person who has everything (or not) or for a gift that looks like it broke your bank but actually is VERY reasonably priced.

Vey pretty and unique piece of art, besides being a learning tool about the geography around the world. The Ivory waters really pop next to the Brass holder. The gemstones picked for this are pretty. It is large enough to see what you are looking for, yet small enough to keep on your coffee table or desk. It has a working compass at the base of the holder, always fun for the kids to play with.
