Down and feather-filled products are packed tightly during shipping. Upon receipt, remove them from their packaging, fluff gently, and allow several hours to recover their full loft. In addition, being sealed in plastic packaging sometimes causes the scent of these natural products to concentrate to a disagreeable level. A few hours of airing usually removes the odor.

Very nice ...but has odor (PainterJean, Franklin NC, 2008-08-26)
 
I bought one and then bought a second one. The smell is not nice but not so bad and it does dissipate over time. They pillows are very nice otherwise, great fluffiness and comfortable. I am not sure I would recommend these to a friend because of the odor but I liked the first one enough to order the second one. I would recommend removing the pillow from the box and plastic wrap and leaving in sun to air for a long while, several days might be a good idea. I squeezed the air out of the pillow a number of times and fluffed them again. I think that may have helped release the smell a little bit. I ran it through the dryer low setting but did not see that it helped at all. Time seemed to be the best thing to take care of the odor. If you order this pillow, plan on not using it for the first few nights. Let it rest for a while after its long journey.

I have four king down pillows and now my fifth with this one. I passed on one of mine to my husband because he likes to flatten it out. I, on the other hand, like my pillow big and fluffy and to fill back up when I remove my head. This pillow still allows me to scrunch it up on the corner when I lay on my left side to read. I've had a couple of surgeries on my neck and shoulder and comfort is very important to me. No sore neck in the morning with this pillow. It's firm without being too hard but it's still soft and fluffy. Worth every penny. Oh, by the way, when it arrived I stuck it in the dryer to fluff up for about 20 minutes then placed out in the sun on the deck for 3-4 hours to air out and slept on it the first night with no odor. Wonderful in every way. 5 stars for the pillow and 5 stars for Overstock.

I received these pillows, one for me, one for my hubby, in a plastic bag and the pillows were folded. I thought, hmm... ok, since they are folded in the middle the down and feathers aren't distributed evenly and my head will just sink in the middle. I fluffed them up and let them air a bit because they were a bit stinky out of the bag, one more than the other. I have to say... I couldn't be more pleased with these pillows. They are like sleeping on clouds. I find them most comfortable when I'm on my back, but my hubby likes his to sleep on his stomach. None of the interior seeps through and you can't beat the 1000 thread count for its superior durability and softness. I hesitated because they are pricey but now I'm glad that we splurged, because we deserve a good night's rest.

These pillows are decent but they do flatten out during the night. I don't like puffy pillows because I sleep on my stomach but this one seems to get super flat. I actually bought them to replace two others, but I'm having the same problem - too much rearranging during the night. The fabric is fantastic, though. No feathers poking through, either. As with the other reviewers, I did notice a smell when I first received the pillows. I just put a dryer sheet inside the pillowcase and the smell was not noticeable at all. Just fresh sheet smell! Overall, these are decent pillows if you don't like a full pillow. If you sleep on your stomach or the edge of your pillow, it's a no-go. Totally flat and uncomfortable.

I'm on a mission to create a bed where I'm surrounded by quality down on all sides. I needed a pillow upgrade so I bought the standard size of this product. As some have mentioned, the pillow I received smelled like wet dog. The odor did fade after a few weeks but still singed the nostrils on occasion when my head hit the pillow. I probably would have put up with it if the pillow was super comfy...but it wasn't. It was too soft for my tastes and didn't rebound and refluff as well as I would have liked. I guess I need a higher fill or better down to suit me. All in all, it's not a bad buy if you like a softer pillow. I returned mine and am still searching for that perfect fit...
