Post Knee Replacement (moonchild16, Cincinnati, OH, 2008-02-16)

I gave this seat 3 stars because it will work for my needs after a total knee replacement. But I had a huge problem with the installation. The large plastic knob on the front that is for tightening to the toilet, was hard to screw on, and it finally became "frozen" and wouldn't move at all. So I had a nice-sized, raised toilet seat that fit my toilet and would work well except for a large (foot-long or so) plastic screw sticking out of the front of the seat. I (my husband actually) had to saw the plastic screw off the front. It's not stable that way, but it will work if you are careful to hold both handles at the same time when you sit down. I saw that another reviewer mentioned that screw, so it would seem to be a problem with this product. But it is still a nice, useable product. Since I won't need it for long, it's okay for my use.

The Invacare Raised Toilet Seat is fantastic. I can now sit and stand again with ease. I suffer from MS and having a raised seat with arm support was critical. The Invacare Raised Toilet Seat with arm rests was the least expensive by far with exceptional performance. Having the clamp on mechanism makes installation so easy. It can probably be accomplished by virtually anyone in less than 5 minutes. I was so happy with this product, I immediately purchased another.

I am SO glad I bought this for recovering from a hysterectomy. It installed in 2 minutes, easily. No trouble with the screw. You might think about measuring adding 5 inches to the toilet height to make sure your feet still touch the ground when you sit down, or you this may cause you trouble if you're too short. I'm 5'4" and it works fine, but just barely. This is going to help me remain independent, and give me some privacy. I'm a happy customer!
