Story Behind the Art

Made from Japanese Rush Grass, a soft grass grown on the edge of water gardens that has a calming aroma. Tatami mats are associated with Japanese religious rites and the tea ceremony. The artisans who make this product work near the famous temples of Angkor Watt and also Phnom Penh in Cambodia. Because they work according to Fair Trade Principles and are paid 2-3 times the average local rate, they enjoy their work very much and make a quality product.
