steam hurts (sales4me, WI., 2008-01-15)

The black lid/plug has a little lift type handle. It's small and you must lift from the back or the steam will burn your fingers. The glass seems a little thin/fragile. But so far it boils, whistles and pours just fine.

Excellent whistle and boils at half the heat. Top is removed for filling and pouring. Exactly what I wanted in a whistling tea kettle. A very hard to find item. I could not find one anywhere but on Overstock.com.
