3 Cats, 1 Dog, 1 Husband ...I am a believer ! (ilonaRose, Mentor, OH, 2008-01-21)

6 years ago, I paid almost $500.00 for a Hoover Windtunnel, Self-Propelled, Bagless vacuum. It worked great for about 2 years. After that, it was always one thing or another. I had a very hard time finding the belts it needed. I could have bought them on the net, but the shipping was more than the belts. This holiday season, I was prepared, bought 2 sets of the 2 belts it needed...Still didn't work good, would lose suction so fast. I replaced the Hepa filter every 6 - 9 months, at a cost of over $30.00 each time. I was finished with it and did a lot of comparision shopping before I decided on this model of Dyson. 1st, you cannot beat Overstock's price, and a $40.00 off coupn to boot. I figured I would try it, if it did not do the job I needed it to do, I would send it back. I am disabled with back and leg problems, so it had to be easy to push around. It doesn't claim to be self-propelled, but it moves just as easy or easier, I should say, than my broke down Hoover. Also, I have 3 cats and a dog, I need to vacuum a lot. My house is set back in the woods, so I have lots of tracked-in 'stuff to deal with and spider webs; (But our location is worth dealing with the small stuff.) My home is mostly wall to wall dark forest green carpet that shows every little bit of lint, dog hair, etc. and has a very deep, luxurious pile. Also, I have allergies and when vacuuming, I had no reaction, such as itchy or watery eyes, as I did when I vacuumed before. When I first did a good cleaning with the Dyson, I almost cried. I had my beautiful, deep pile back, and so clean. Walking bare foot, it looks and feels like a new carpet, even though it is over 15 years old. My living room has a vaulted cathedral ceiling, going up to about 18 feet. I would try to clean it with several extension tubes and standing on a step stool. Don't ask, it wasn't pretty and very dangerous. With the telescopic wand, wow, for most of the ceiling, I can do it myself. The bonus tools are handy, most of all the ceiling fan attatchment. The fan in my living room always required me on the stool, but with this, I could do it safely from the floor. I also used it to clean the dust from the top of picture frames, it can be bent into different angles, so it does a lot. It really is much more quiet than the Hoover. It is so easy to empty and much cleaner to empty. I dont feel like I need a shower after emptying the dirt. A GIANT plus, no belts or bags or filters to track down, buy or change. I cannot say enough good things about this machine. Yes, it is still new, but the concept is so good, I believe it will work as they claim. This will sound crazy, but this Dyson has been life changing for me. A clean house is important to me and this vacuum makes it so much easier for me to keep my house clean. Thank you Overstock! I searched all over and NO where could I find a better deal on this vacuum than Overstock. I know this is a long-winded review, but I can't help it, this is a long-suction vacuum. After all the stuggle with that Hoover, that I felt was too expensive to give up on it so soon, taking into consideration my physical disabilities, I am just so pleased with my Dyson, I should have done it long ago.

Dyson Bronze should be first in Consumer Report (swfand52, Houston, TX, 2008-01-06)

I have always been a firm believer in getting the best vacuum possible for getting and keeping carpets clean. I needed a new vacuum, Rainbow was gone. I wanted to buy one again that was going to last years. I wasnt going to be an impluse buyer even though I had tossed my old faithful. I did my research and read everything I could. In the end I based my purchase on Consumer Report, and bought their "best". I got it home, couldnt wait to use it, and was sadly disappointed. The only way it would vacuum was the attachment for bare floors. This was awkward in that the extension hose was wobbly and with the slightest amount of pressure. It wasnt made well, didnt preform and I knew wouldnt last. I returned it and a different saleman was working. He just said. "have you tried the Dyson?" "I have NEVER had 1 returned and they are great." I told him about Consumer Reports and that the Dyson didnt have the number # 1 rating. His comment was "and they never will, its from the UK!" "the machine is awesome though, lets have a look." The store was closing and I left feeling like I had my answer. I came home, got online and checked OVERSTOCK. Not only did they have Dyson, the Bronze just happened to be with a great discount at the time. I could buy it now and not have to wait a couple of weeks to save for it. I ordered it without hesitation, and it was here within 3 days! It was so easy to assemble, I already loved the design and construction. Just let me say, I cant remember the last time that a cleaner made those wonderful vacuum lines in my carpet! The Dyson did the most amazing job ever! I had to empty the container a couple of times, and I am a believer in vacuuming every day. I continued on, I vacuum my mattress, pillows, ceiling fans, curtains, everything I could! The suction is awesome, picks up pet hair like a charm, and dust too. Have you ever seen a vacuum with "dust" in the canister? Very very fine dust? It picks up everything. The extension hose slips right out of the machine at the top and is just perfect. Makes cleaning ceiling fans so easy. Its built well, not complicated at all. No filters to buy, no bags to buy, and it will clean like no other. Consumer Report... shame on you! I rate this the #1, and its the voice of the user that should count. You can trust to buy it from Overstock for great price, and fast delivery. And the shipping... well you know that is good! I have had my Dyson for almost a month now, and I still rate it #1. Overstock, made it possible with their savings.

copper top vacc (KnittingMom, Central Pa, 2008-03-19)

Well, I recieved the FIRST one broken in 2 places....which of course I didn't even notice until after I was trying to use it ( hense the poor suction) The folks at Overstock sent me a replacement and I sent theirs back, I actually just traded with the UPS man LOL. SO now for the skinny: Yes the vaccum works well. I LOVE the 'running marks' left in the carpet. Seriously, I do! I have been running it, then immediately shampooing with the 'bissel steam cleaner' then after drying, running the dyson again....and I am STILL getting dirt out . My carpet looks cleaner, but at times I need to run the vac S L O W L Y over the same areas. The 'wand' portion. the suckion in it is amazing, but the ability to move into all types of positions (IE: Cleaning out the lint trap in the dryer) is useless. by the time you get the hose in the position, the hose pinches shut by the handle of the wand. SO as long as you are going to pull out the wand and use it in a direct fashion it works ok, but trying to bend it to make curves and corners is a nightmare. I have not had it that long to be able to report on durability, but I have to say that hitting the top button and having the cannister empty out is nice, but you better hold your breath!! Overall, I am not sure a cheaper brand would have worked just as well, But the dyson does have a 5 year warranty, which of course I am hopefull that I would never have to use it!! This has ended up being just one of those things where I NEEDED to purchase it, just to see if it was all that they say, but for the price, I think I would have been fine just buying a new vacc every year LOL.

DYSON ROCKS! (jshm, Huntington Beach, CA, 2008-01-07)

I have not owned many vacuums but the few that I have had do not even compare to the Dyson DC14!! After reading many reviews and doing some research I decided to get this one because of the great price/features (and free shipping at the time) and I didn't really care what color I got as long as it performed. And boy does it! I did what another reviewer did by vacuuming an area with my old vacuum and then went over the same area with my new Dyson. It FILLED UP THE TANK!!! I was grossed out and amazed at the same time! As a matter of fact it filled up the tank 2 more times after that!!! I can't believe this whole time I have been using my old vacuum I thought my carpets were getting clean?! I was (still do) vacuuming at least 3 -4 times a week because we are a family of 4 plus a cat. The Dyson makes it seems like I didn't vacuum at all!! This sounds strange but I don't mind vacuuming anymore because I know that when I do my carpets will be CLEANED now! Also, the attachments that came with are great too- I love that I can do my lamp shades because one of the attachments has an angle swivel that makes the job easy. And last but not least I love the fact that I don't have to buy anymore vacuum bags!! Just make sure you clean/wash the filter every few months and you're good to go. Now if only Dyson would make a vacuum that vacuums for you.....=)

Why did I wait! (lms1959, Reading Pa, 2008-08-14)

Hi I cant believe I waited to buy a Dyson. I had so many other vacumn cleaners over the years. It has been a joke with my husband. For awhile.. I wanted a Dyson, but the cost concerned me.... However, after buying my last vacumn cleaner at Overstock...(Royal) . I decided to go for it! My Dyson came today. .I couldnt wait to get it out the box and use it! It was rather easy to put together with the directions... The only thing that I had trouble with was the using the wand and its attachments. However Iam sure after I get the hang of it, it will be fine. I LOVE the long cord that doesnt pull out of the outlet and using the wand.. I can vacumn my steps to the 2nd floor with ease! It is alittle hard to push HOWEVER The pickup is AWESOME.. T .I couldnt believe all the "junk" that came out of my carpets! My house smells cleaner already! With 1 dog and 2 cats, it was really gross to think that my granddaughter crawled on my carpets and to think I always made sure I vacumned before she came over! I 100% advise you, to buy the Dyson... .. you wont regret your decision after the first time you vacumn your carpets! I cant wait to vacumn tomorrow!
