I would't know about durability yet... (Crocus, Atlanta, 2009-01-18)

The initial impression when we saw it was that this is very pretty. It was easy to setup, the manual was clear and simple. We changed the filter to a scented one, then turned it on. We literarly took delight in analizing the contents of the waste container: cat hair!! We haven't had a cat in months! I guess it all had to come off that carpet sometime and I am glad that it's now when we are about to have a crawling baby around the house. It even has a power accessory for the stairs. The waste container was easy to dump and the wire rolled right back into its place for easy storage. Our house had a wonderful smell of apples and theoretically we were breathing the cleanest air we had in months, due to the HEPA filter. In the future, we don't expect to ever have to change the belt because of the lifetime belt it comes with. On the down side, what we were able to notice in just one week since we' ve had it, it is a heavy vacuum cleaner. The old one we had until now was actually lighter. The wheels are very very tiny and this makes it tough to jump on a rug on top of the carpet and back. It does get stuck at the edge of anything raised a bit above the level of the carpet. On our old one, we used to be able to tilt the whole vacuum cleaner to raise to a higher surface or vacuum something that was stuck one inch on the wall. This one does not do that, when tilting it, the brush part of the vacuum remains on the floor. Also, the attachments don't have a secure way of "locking" into place and they keep falling out during use. The "power brush" accessory stops spinning when it touches the carpet so pressing into the carpet at all with it is out of question. We did not clean all its parts yet but they recommend cleaning and drying about 7 parts after use. I imagine this would take a good half an hour to disassemble and wash, then the time it takes to dry. They recommend buying a second filter to use when the first filter is drying. Also, I don't expect this to be the case with every vacuum cleaner, but ours has a problem with the brush part turning on. We have to really tweak the brush on/off button to get the brush to turn on, but it works and we did not file in a complaint about that. The wire does roll into place at the press of a button but it gets stuck very often (pull the wire back out a foot or so, press the button again) and it takes several minutes of me bending over it to pull it back out and pressing the button to roll it back in. Regarding durability? I couldn't say anything about that. We just got it. But I hope it will last us about 10 years, as this is why we didn't get the cheapest vacuum on the market.

Service call needed in less that a month (jhines01, Reynoldsburgh, OH, 2008-05-22)

I was so excited to receive this vacuum and could not wait to use it. However, a month has gone by and I had to make a service call. Currently, my vacuum does not shut off - I have to pull the cord out of the electrical socket for it to stop - not good. I made a service call and I have to take it to a local repair shop to see what the problem is - I really do not have the time to do this! I was so thrilled about the deal I got on this product and it vacuums like a charm - I also love the scented filters - they are marvelous. I am very unhappy about having to lug it half way across town to see if it needs a new switch after using it less than a month- ugh!

Dirt Devil i Cyclonic Upright Vacuum (Tracy1, Richmond, Virginia, 2008-07-27)

I will say this vaccum does a good job with suction. However, 2 problems. The attachments do not stay in the wand. Tried to vacuum my furniture over the weekend and the attachments kept falling out. Won't be able to use these extra features. The back wheels are so small they don't//won't roll over rugs without you picking up the unit. This is pain. I have large rugs in two rooms and its a "start and stop process." If you have ALL hard wood and ALL carpent you will have no problems.

Great Vacumn (kaas, Missouri, 2008-06-09)

We had an inexpensive Dirt Devil vacumn for years and when it finally gave out I researched many different brands. Finally decided to get another Dirt Devil since the old one worked so well. I'm so glad I purchased this one. Does a great job, is easy to use and a lot less than a Dyson. It is not self propelled but is easy to push, the hose part is so easy to access, easy emptying and the 4 scented filters are a neat bonus.

Dirt Devil i Cyclonic Upright Vacuum (maggiemarnette, Little Rock ,Arkanasas, 2008-06-23)

I absolutely love the versatility of this vacuum. It easily changes from carpet to bare floors - tile, laminate etc. My favorite feature is the extending "hide a hose and wand". You simply lift it up from its base, squeeze a button and the hose lengthens so you can reach around items high and low. It is really great for corners with cobwebs! The automatic rewinding cord is a plus also.
