Avoid placing your furniture in direct sunlight and maintain at least two feet between furniture and heat sources. Aniline and Protected leathers are especially sensitive to direct sunlight. Excellent Bench / ottoman / coffee table (ShopperFromOK, Little D, OK, 2008-07-25)

I read several reviews before purchasing - the great reviews are why I purchased this piece of furniture online. I have had for about a month now. I ordered on a Friday and received the following Tuesday - super fast shipping. The quality is great - the color is as pictured. Every bit as nice as any I have seen in furniture stores for much higher price! I read another reviewer who indicated they had 'very dark brown leather furniture with a slight red tint' - I have the same and was concerned about the possible clash with the colors being so similar however with the 'tufted' worked out perfectly. The leather is thicker or 'harder' than my leather sofas but it matches nicely as a bench/coffee table/ottoman - especially since feet end up resting on it. I would recommend 100%. I do agree with the reviewers who said you need a LONG screwdriver. Also, the odor issue - I think because it is wrapped in plastic before it is put in the box - the smell went away in about 2 days. Oh, remember to be careful when opening the box, the only thing between the box and the bench is a thin layer of plastic - no sharp knives!

Nice product for the price (CincyShopper72, Cincinnati, Oh, 2008-04-02)

I received this product very quickly after ordering. The ottoman is nice and easy to assemble. We opted for a leather ottoman as a coffee table, over our current wood coffee table, in hopes of preventing injuries to our small children who like to run around the living room. The kids love the ottoman and actually like sitting or laying on it while watching tv, which frees up more room on the sofa for our dog. :) I was nervous to order the ottoman as we already have a dark brown leather sofa and I wasn't sure how the colors would match. The ottoman has more shine than our sofa and is more on the true brown side, opposed to our sofa which has more of a red cast to it, but they look fine together and don't look mismatched. This ottoman also takes up less room than our coffee table, which is a nice bonus. In hindsight I probably should have ordered a non-tufted ottoman, as the crevices are a good place to store dirt, but nothing the vacuum can't take care of. My only flaw with this product is the gathering of the leather at the very bottom is not all that smooth; but nothing too terrible.

Fantastic Deal (FunnyMonkey, Chicago, IL, 2008-07-09)

I ordered this at the suggestion of a friend who has had successful furniture purchases here. I wasn't expecting much, since it is so much cheaper than similar items in a traditional store. I was very pleasantly surprised. It is gorgeous and perfect for our living room. The leather seems to be a good quality, the construction seems solid, and it was fairly easy to put together. You have to finagle the screws a little bit to get the legs on, but all-in-all, I think it took me about fifteen minutes to get the thing unpacked and assembled. (Not counting the time it took to find a screwdriver!) The only complaint, which was really not a big deal, was that it smelled kind of funny. I think this is common with dark leathers - I think it is the chemicals used to color the leather, combined with being boxed up. It only lasted a day or so, and opening some windows pretty much took care of it. This is an awesome deal and looks fantastic. I'm super happy with it.

I love the looks of this ottoman, but the smell is quite strong. I have a Broyhill sofa that is leather and all you smell is the nice leather smell when you walk in the house. When I put this in the house it was so strong smelling that I had to return it. I didn't know if the smell would ever go away. I had to get it out of the house. It must be the aniline process that they use to protect the leather. It seems to look more like a bi/cast piece with the coating on it. I guess the chemical makes the leather more durable. I could not smell leather at all. Only the chemical on it. The brown is a nice chocolate color. I would have kept it if the odor wasn't so strong. I figure the other people were exagerating the smell on the reviews, but they were not. I don't have time to leave it in the garage for 6 months and hope the smell goes away.

A beautiful piece of furniture! (cutenhblonde, Manchester, NH, 2008-06-08)

I ordered this item to be a combination coffee table/extra seating piece for the livingroom. So far it has functioned well as both. I recently moved and had the movers put it together for me because they had the right type of screwdriver, so I can say that assembly was very easy! It was just the legs that needed to be attached, anyway, and it took maybe 15 minutes. I love the quality and the smell of the leather. It looks like a much more expensive piece of furniture, and I'm glad I got such a great deal on it. I have seen ottomans that aren't even real leather (and are much smaller), and they cost about half of what I paid for this leather bench! I have recommended Overstock.com (and this product in particular) to family and co-workers...get them while they still have them!
