Problem with Arm Joints (Bobzgrl, New Smyrna Beach, FL, 2008-07-30)

This is a beautiful chair. Unfortunately, we have used it less than one day and the elbow joint on each of the arms is already splitting apart. We are not overweight by any means but I don't think the arm design is strong enough for leaning back in the chair. The arms were the hardest thing to assemble to the body of the chair as the holes were a littlle off - we suspected there would be some tension in this joint as we noticed, once assembled and the screws tighthened, the cut where the arms meet the seat are not flush. There is quite a gap and now we wonder if we should shim it with a piece of wood. We have adjusted the tension so if you are sitting and need to lean back a bit to ease stress on your lower back, you are able to. My husband is going to put some sort of support bracket under each elbow so you can't see it, but the joints are definitely pulling apart. It's a good looking piece and I'll be very disappointed if it doesn't work for us. I hope he can fix it.

Great value (MomfromTexas, Houston, TX, 2008-03-13)

I am extremely happy with this purchase. The chair is beautiful, very well made and looks the quality of those 2 or 3 times its price. The picture here just doesn't do it justice. I got the one in the middle - can't remember the color name but not the cherry one - and was worried about wood matching issues and if it would be a too-light oak color, but it turned out to match my desk perfectly and is a good, rich mahogany brown color. I thought looking at it online that the cushion and wheels were dark green, but they turned out to be black. It wasn't a problem for me but just wanted to point it out in case it would matter to someone else. My husband put it together and had no problems although he is usually good at that sort of thing. I am a completely satisfied customer and highly recommend this purchase.

Cheap finish (cheapchairbuyer, Los Angeles, 2008-04-21)

I've only had this chair three weeks, and already the finish is wearing off of it (I bought the fruitwood finish), revealing the cheap pine it's made out of. I would've sent it back, but I like the appearance of the chair, so I decided it would be easier to sand off the manufacturer's cheap finish and stain it with a higher quality, more durable urathane finish. I could understand having to do this after a few years of use, but after three weeks? Also, it uses cheap plastic rollers instead of brass or steel rollers. I know that I'm eventually going to have to replace these, too. Probably a lot sooner than I expect. Looks great, but it's clear the manufacturer cut a lot of corners to keep the price down. Keep looking.

Great Chairs! (EmilyM82, Tucson, AZ, 2008-03-28)

I just received theses chairs. They are beautiful and arrived quickly. I was little worried due to all the reviews complaining about having to drill additional holes to makes pieces fit and problems people had with raising and lowering the chair. But I had no problems with these issues. I would recommend inserting all of the screws in a little bit for each step, and then tightening the rest of the way once they are all in. Also, there are instructions under the chair seat on how to tilt/raise/lower the chair. As far as raising it, pull the lever up a little past the point you think you should have to and it works great!

Pros: This is a solid and comfortable chair at an unbelievably great price. This isn't a finely-crafted chair that you would use as a focal point of a room, but it really does look pretty nice. It fits nicely in a small space. Cons: The chair is a do-it-yourself assembly that came without any instructions. Fortunately, all the parts were there, and I was able to get the instructions from the Boss Chair website. The height adjustment mechanism doesn't work, but the hassle and price of returning the chair would exceed the cost of the chair. (As it turns out, the unadjustable height is okay.)
