Blue Hat Teach & Talk Activity Laptop (tuttwinmom, Richmond Hill, GA, 2008-05-20)

I bought this product for my 5 year old for his birthday. We picked this particular product since it had a "mouse". The mouse is basically non-functional except as an enter key. My child tries to move the mouse around like a regular computer but it doesn't work like that. The description of the mouse is misleading. Also, the games are confusing. This product is listed for child 6 and older. I am an adult and can hardly figure the thing out. You need to keep the instruction manual handy if you want to work any of the functions. Lastly, it has several features that are basic to a 2 year old like it repeats the alphabet. This part is way to easy. Then it goes on to games that are so hard that I have to get the book to figure it out. I wish I had picked something else or saved my money on a REAL laptop! I still try to talk positive. Like "come on ... let's figure it out!!" I do not want him to be disappointed in his birthday present, because I sure am!!!

Not too interested (Mrsprim, Houston, 2008-01-11)

My child just turned 6 and is quite computer savy. The mouse that comes with the unit is more for show than to use. My child was upset that it can't be used. She has had this for one month and used it perhaps 30 minutes total. She wishes she had a real laptop. It's not very user friendly even for the the parent that is an IT person and using the manual that came with it. Nice idea but needs to be more user friendly. Don't think we've explored all the functions because they are pain to get to.

New and unused (mrforbes, Memphis, TN, 2008-01-09)

I appreciated the time that the product came to my residence. I neatly wrapped it and was excited to give it to the daughter of my girlfriend. We reopened the computer and placed the batteries into the console. To our suprise, not a sound or any indication that it even had batteries in it. In addition, some of the buttons were lose and if it had worked I would be afraid to let my girlfriend's daughter play with it because it may shock he or malfunction in some sort of way. I was displeased.

I was very satisfied with this product. My five year old son really enjoys having his own computer. One disapointment was finding out that the mouse really has no great purpose, it just has two buttons that don't do anything you can't just do right on the keyboard. The graphics are very basic, but I was expecting that. It does have quite a variety of activities,games, and different ways of "tricking" your child into learning. My son and I both recomend it for children around his age!!

I bought this for my niece who is 6. It is an OK product - but definitely now what I expected. I did not give it to her, but instead I let my three year old play with it as it looked really cheap. The learning tools are just OK, but the mouse does not really work. It should be emphasized that this is a learning "toy". Most children who have already been exposed to a real computer probably won't be very impressed with this.
