Love It (DaveSD, San Diego, 2008-03-06)

Previous reviewer said you can only adjust the timer in 5 minute increments. Actually, it advances in 5 minute increments but then you can back off (with the down arrow button) in 1 minute increments. I have sauteed using a stainless pan with a bottom larger than the recommended size of 10 1/4' with no problem at all. The controls allow you to adjust the heating level as precisely as you could with a gas burner. I have also cooked pasta in a Le Creuset (enameled cast iron) pot. Again, worked as good as gas. The unit is attractive, lightweight, has sturdy feet, a quiet fan and cleans very easily. I now use this unit instead of my gas stovetop. Note: In the picture the control panel looks silver. The panel on the unit I received is a flat finish dark grey (which I like better).

Not so fast (topcook, NJ, 2008-04-21)

Induction seemed like a good idea and this unit offered a high wattage-1600- to try out. It is excellent at dropping the temperature quickly, but despite the hype there are limited settings and it is difficult to get it right without constantly upping and lowering the settings. It was also slower in a comparison test boiling water for pasta than my regular electric stove burner and it was harder to keep the water simmering. It does a good job heating oil for frying quickly, but again keeping the oil at a good temperature means constantly changing the settings, so the French toast is either burning or soggy. I will stick to conventional cooking for the time being. .

Induction (Erab56, AZ, 2008-05-23)

We love induction cooking. Heat is not wasted, and foods cook fast and the heat can be adjusted instantly. New full sized cook tops run around $5000.00. This is a good trade off. We have one that we have used for over 20 years by Toshiba. Bought this in case the other quits on us. Now we use both. I never use my range. Works great with the cookware I already was using (stainless steel and enamel coated cast iron). Can not use glass or aluminum - no problem as I never did anyway.

Amazing stove top (Deedee111, NJ, 2008-01-17)

I had purchased one for each of my family members and then they had bought one for their friends. Even used it for tailgate parties!! You need induction ready cookware for it though. I love it.

Works great! (Madhay, Tampa, FL, 2008-04-10)

I bought this to use in my RV. We have used it many times and for campouts. It is very easy to use and I am going to get another one to keep in the boat.
