Did the trick (AChillyBedroom, Rural Wisconsin, 2008-03-11)

This Simmons electric blanket lets us sleep comfortably in our inadequately heated bedroom, which generally reaches only 58 degrees in midwinter. The dual controls are convenient, and the king-size blanket covers our California King-sized bed just right. Even on high, the blanket does not get as warm as the twin-sized Sealy electric blanket we bought several years ago. Like another reviewer, we've found that the blanket isn't warm enough unless we put others on top of it (defying the instructions). With the help of other blankets, though, it's fine. We pre-heat our bed by turning the blanket on the highest setting twenty minutes before we get in. After we feel warm, we turn the blanket to the lowest setting. We had to wash the blanket when we received it, as it was covered with loose polyester fuzz. We have no place to line-dry a king-sized blanket, so we tumble-dried it on the delicate setting, checking every five minutes to see that it didn't overheat. I removed several fist-sized clumps of fuzz from the lint screen as the blanket dried. However, the blanket was fine afterwards and showed no signs of shrinkage or damage.

Not a great Beautyrest blanket (Jim1V, Oregon, 2008-03-01)

I was surprised to see large gaps in the material of the Beautirest King blanket. I was able to push the holes together but it looks a bit strange. The electrical part worked fine but the controls go to "E" occasionally and I have to wait up to 15 minutes for the blanket to reset before it will heat again which is not good at 2 in the morning. I have had one other Beautyrest, that I bought from Overstock.com, similar to this one and it did the same thing for 2 years and then it wouldn't reset at all. It would only go to "E" and not heat. This is a replacement I bought, thinking it would be better. The new one doesn't reset as often but after about 3 months or so, it is no longer heating well. I have the control (1 to 9 to H) on 6 to keep warm. I probably won't buy another Beautyrest with the reset on it. I have an old Beautirest dual control queen size that I've had for over 12 years and it still works fine.

It's just "OK" (icfeet, California, 2008-04-12)

I have purchased other Beautyrest electric blankets from Overstock in the past for the family, and have been pleased with their look, feel and performance - with the exception of the darn digital control which, if you goof and try to flip the settings too fast, will freeze up on you and take a good 5 minutes to "unlock." I needed a twin size blanket ASAP, and this model was the only one that I could find to meet my immediate needs. It is not as nice looking as my other Beautyrest blankets, it must be set on a higher setting (6 or 7) to produce much heat, and the fabric snags - plus it has the same control unit. I do feel that the blanket is overpriced. Would I buy this again? Probably not. But it functions good enough to keep for the light and infrequent use it will get in my home. Would I recommend it to friends? No, not really, if they had other purchase options.

Not impressed (MSDE, , 2008-03-01)

I like the digital dispalys and the fact there are two sides for two person comfort. The fabric is very nice (don't let the cats make bread on it). Other reviews mention fuzzy pilling of the fabric causing lint problems, I have not had that issue...yet. However, the blanket cannot be placed under other bedding making it impossible to incorporate into the bedding. We live in the mountains and it is nice to warm up the bed prior to getting into it. It is not that warm since it is on top of everything. If the error message occurs you have to wait 10 min. for it to resolve itself. I wish I would have bought a blanket I could have put under the comforter like normal. it just does not perform the way I needed it to.

beautyrest blanket (bbandt, birmingham, al, 2008-03-16)

the blanket was an excellant choice, not only does it look good but it feels good too. It is lightweight and I like the fact that when the blanket is accidentally folded it automatically turns itself off. Also the other night while I was half asleep I wanted to turn the blanket on; however, it had only been a short time since I had turned it off,, thus the blanket would not allow me to turn it back on until it had completly cooled off. We had a very bad sky to ground lightning storn in the middle of the night and the blanket automatically turned itself off,, thus an excellant overall rating in my book. I am terribly afraid of electric blankets but let my spouse talk me into trying this one and I am glad he did.
