Good value (GmaJudy, Calif, 2008-01-25)

I bought my daughter chocolate Uggs for Christmas and Bear Paws for me. This gave me the chance to compare both up close. They were both well made and the casual observer probably wouldn't notice the difference if seen on someones feet. About the fit: These type of boots are suppose to be worn without socks and will mold to the shape of your foot. I find that even with a little arthritis in my feet, these are still warm and comfortable. I wore them all day to the convention center which has a hard, concrete floor. They gave my feet plenty of support and probably allowed them to naturally swell a bit without any discomfort. I was very happy I decided to wear them. Sizing was not a problem. I wear a 7.5 so I ordered the 7 knowing they would eventually stretch and I was planning to wear them without socks. Yes, they were a little snug the first time out but not so much that I ripped them off my feet in pain. By the 3rd - 4th wearing they had molded to the shape of my foot in all the right places. The sheepskin lining is holding up fine but if it need replacing, a new inner sole can always be ordered. I think it's important to anyone buying Bear Paws to know they are NOT sized like Uggs. Uggs run large because of the European sizing. I would wear a 5-6 in them whereas the Bear Paws use US sizing. I see some people suggest buying a size larger but I think this is a mistake unless you're planning to wear heavy socks inside the boots. I am a half size so I bought 1/2 size down as I knew they would stretch. I hope this helps anyone worried about buying these boots. They are an excellent value and look quite chic with a pair of jeans.

Watch out for the lining! (auditgirl, San Francisco, CA, 2008-02-28)

Just received my boots yesterday. Don't listen to the other reviews about the calf being tight. Number one, these boots only go up to below midcalf (before most calves get to the bulky muscle part), so they're pretty roomy. I normally have big calves (to where regular leather dressy boots won't zip up), but can probably wear a pair of stretch jeans and still fit them into these boots. I also usually wear a 7.5 or 8 and ordered the size 8 and it is true to size with socks on. I have no idea what other reviewers are saying about running small. I also have wide feet and again, it's roomy and not tight at all. **Now, for my warning- the lining inside one boot felt uneven and uncomfortable around the big toe area. I pulled out the lining and noticed they had seemingly run out of enough sheepskin to cover the entire bottom of the boot, so they sewed on another piece to add to the lining. Too bad it was done so poorly that I could see the two pieces individually and follow the thick sewing line! The added piece was also thicker than the other piece, which added to the unevenness. I called Overstock and initiated the replacement process. We'll see if the next shipment is any better!

I bought these boots because I work outside a lot in the winter and I needed winter boots that were going to keep me warm. But I wanted to make sure that they were functional, as well as stylish and comfortable since I would be wearing them all day. Now they are my favorite pair of shoes! Plus, even in 2 feet of snow, they kept my feet perfectly warm. I've even stepped in a 5 inch puddle of water on accident, and my feet were STILL dry! I looked at other boots similar to these, but they were way more expensive and I wasn't as impressed. These boots are a GREAT price, and very affordable for the average person that can't afford to spend $60-$180 dollars on designer name brand boots, that look just like these. All in all, these boots are cute, comfortable, stylish, and they fit great. I like these boots better than the designer named ones and they were under $40 dollars! Well worth the money, and great quality!

My bearpaw boots (LaurenDenise, Toledo, OH, 2008-03-08)

I was looking for a pair of boots to replace some that I had previously purchased from another online store. I had already bought things from Overstock.com and was sure that I would be more satisfied with this purchase than from the other store. I absolutely love my Bearpaw boots, and with all of the snow we have been experiencing they have come in handy. Unlike the other boots that I purchased, my feet do not get wet and the lining on the inside adds extra comfort. There is a great amount of support in the soles as well. The only thing that I noticed from the website is that it was stated that the boots are normally a 1/2 size small. However after the first week of so of use, the lining does not appear to be so thick and the boots fit quite nicely. I am afraid that if I would have gotten the next size up they would be too large now. In short I am thoroughly enjoying the use of my boots!!!!

Much better than I expected (eabraham, Chicago, IL, 2008-02-07)

I never wanted Uggs - I think they're ugly, and way overpriced. But I have some friends who swear by them for comfort and warmth, and my feet are both hard to fit and always cold - so I thought I'd try these Bearpaws. I'm so glad I did! These are very warm and comfy, and in the black color that I got, much less obtrusive than the usual Uggs. As other reviewers have said, they felt snug when I first tried them on, and I worried because I am hard to fit, but after less than an hour wearing them, they had stretched out enough to be comfortable. The only down side that I can think of is that they are, like all pull-on boots, difficult to get out of easily or gracefully. They also have a tendency to "eat" loose-fitting socks, so be careful what you wear under them!
