Love this rug. (goLSU, Baton Rouge, LA, 2008-02-11)

You can't beat the price and value with this rug. The initial smell is NOT unpleasant and it goes away after a few days. The texture is deliberately not smooth b/c of the basketweave. I love the texture on my feet and it is no trouble to walk on, but you can't lay on it to watch tv if you are using it in a den. The benefit of the texture is that the rug hides virtually everything. Stains are easy to remove if they even show at all. Daily dust, dirt, pet hair, etc... do not show. I am slowly switching all my area rugs to seagrass b/c of this. Just fyi, I ordered the natural tan color and it is definitely NOT a light cream like the picture. It is a neutral tan that blends nicely with the color of the rug. This rug looks great on wood floors. I've also ordered the runner with a black border for a bathroom and it is really sharp looking. Just fyi, I've ordered the glam-bordered rug also sold by overstock before and highly prefer this rug. I'm not sure if I was sent a defective one or not, but the glam-bordered rug had a weave of three to one as opposed to this rug's weave of three to two [I prefer the tighter thicker weave for durability and stability of the rug]. Also, the rubber backing on the glam border seagrass rug is starting to disintigrate whereas the rubber backing on this rug [as well as the black-bordered rug I use in the bathroom which gets wet repeatedly] is still going strong. LOVE THIS RUG. Much cheaper than anywhere else. Wish they sold a 9' by 13'!

Seagrass Rug (SonjaJaxs, New York State, 2008-02-08)

I am very pleased with this purchase. For the price it is an amazing rug. It arrived in less than 5 days too. I am using the rug in my living room, which goes well with the cottage-like feel I was trying to capture. I don't mind the basketweave pattern, I rather like the roughness underfoot and it is so easy to keep clean. It rolled out easily, and within a couple of days and some additional weight at the curled end, it was laying flat. The 'hay-like" smell was minimal and only lasted about a week or so. I kind of miss it now that it isn't there....it wasn't unpleasant smell at all. I have a dog and he also enjoys the rough texture of the rug and I don't worry about dog hair showing any longer! The rug vacuums easily and the cotton border is easy to keep clean as well. I got it in a darker color because it doesn't show dirt as easily. The rug does 'shed' a little....little grass pieces but a couple of vaccums later and it seems to be much less now. The rubber backing is also a plus. The rug stays in place. This was a very good purchase in my experience.

All-around GREAT Rug (cropping25, Lynchburg, VA, 2008-06-08)

I looked and looked for a natural fiber rug for under my kitchen table. It came down to between this one and the identical one in a much higher priced home furnishings catalog. I am so glad I purchased this one! I got the matching runner and the two look and feel so good underfoot that I am looking for places to put more of this rug! I don't know why others talked about the smell. While it did go away quickly, it smelled so good that my husband and I kind-of miss it! It cleans up very well, too. (We have a new puppy, so this was a necessity!) I love the backing. I always hated having to align a rug with the rug pad underneath. Inevitably the rug slides off and you're always fixing it. If you're wondering about colors, I can only speak for the "ivy" color. It is true to the colors depicted on the screen. It is a rich, mossy green - not too dark and not too light. This was only my second purchase from Overstock and I am HOOKED on their rugs! Shipping was super-quick, too!

Great buy! (Catburch, Santa Monica, California, 2008-04-04)

Love, love, love this rug. I unfortunately live in a rental apartment and HATE carpet, but until I can convince the owner to let me replace it with hardwood, I have to figure out a nice way to cover it. This rug is a great solution. I wanted something in a natural fiber that was easy to clean. It looks really good, and I can imagine it would look even better over hardwoods. I bought this rug for my dining area and plan to buy another one for the living room. I actually enjoy the smell of the sea grass, which is good because it does last a while. I got the natural trim color which looks really nice but will get dirty faster, so if that's an issue you should consider the darker edge. All said, It's a great buy at a great price, and you can't beat the delivery charge! Thanks once again overstock!

I can SMELL a "good deal"........ (tanjon, Southern CA, 2008-07-06)

OK, so this rug made my family GAG, for atleast 2 weeks....the smell was NOT that of fresh grass. More like fresh manure ! But...I have to say it is a beautful rug and a great deal. I ordered the Ivy, and was very pleased to see it was really more Olive !!! Perfect for me. Not a rug to lay around on, but I love to switch out my wool rugs in the summer to lighter more beachy feeling ones...this is it. My advice is, if you are going to be having a party or guests, do not get this rug right before,as the smell is pretty bad. I can still get wafts of it sometimes, but it is much better now. What I would do is air it out in garage or something before bringing into the house !!
