Down and feather-filled products are packed tightly during shipping. Upon receipt, remove them from their packaging, fluff gently, and allow several hours to recover their full loft. In addition, being sealed in plastic packaging sometimes causes the scent of these natural products to concentrate to a disagreeable level. A few hours of airing usually removes the odor.

I bought two (GranJam, Fredericksburg, VA, 2008-01-11)

They came in record time, as always, and were just as advertised. I put one on my daughters bed and one on my guest bed right in time for the Christmas holidays. They came out of the box and rolled right out onto the bed. On one of the beds I covered the mattress with a plain beige sheet for protection and the Featherbed with the fitted sheet right on top of the mattress. The sheets (which I ordered from Overstock) were deep enough and it fit perfectly, as well as held the featherbed in place. On the other bed I covered the mattress with the fitted sheet, bought a duvet cover for the featherbed. The extra on the sides tucked in under the mattress, which helped hold it in place, along with the matching top sheet that went on top of the featherbed. I had also purchased a down comforter and purchased another duvet cover in a complementing color to go on top of that. Each duvet cover came with a set of pillow covers which gave me several ways to change the look of the whole set. All in all it was not only a great look, but a very warm a comfortable bed to sleep in. That came straight from my guests, by the way. They especially liked the featherbed, wanted to know where I got it and could not believe the price. My daughter got a whole new bedroom suit for Christmas, but says the featherbed is her favorite part of it. I highly recommend getting one, or two. Matter of fact, my bed is next, so I'll end up with three.

After a Year's Worth of Use.... (jane6677, Bethlehem, PA, 2008-06-09)

This featherbed still fluffs up, nice and lofty. I accidentally purchased an "extra-firm" mattress, and needed something to make it softer. This down topper is a good value for that purpose. The pros: No noticeable odor, Fluffs pretty easily and stays lofty for a week or so, reasonable price, makes bed "higher" and cozier. Feathers don't poke-through unless you flip the featherbed over. The cons: Since the pointy side of the feathers have some sort of magnetic attraction to the bed, you can fluff this and rotate it, but cannot flip it upside-down, or it feels like you're sleeping on a porcupine. It would be nicer if the fabric had a higher thread count or double-layer design to prevent this. Also, the baffle-box contruction has small channels that allow feathers to move in between the quilted squares. This causes extra feathers to accumulate at the very top, bottom, and sides of the featherbed. Fluffing occasionally requires pushing the extra feathers back into their respective baffles. All in all, for the price, I would recommend this item. So what if you have to take 5 extra minutes to fluff it every time you change your sheets?

Sleeping on a cloud (REMsleep, Co, 2008-01-15)

I recently traveled to Dubai on business, and had the luxury of staying in a very upscale hotel. My super-sized king bed had a feather bed. Amazingly this was my first feather bed experience. I enjoyed it immensely. Long days filled with meetings, conferences, traffic jams and language barriers begins to take its toll on the human spirit. The one thing that could ease my stressful day was being swallowed by my comfortable feather bed. It was like sleeping on a cloud. Every night I would get excited about the very notion that i would soon be engulfed in pure comfort. Once I realized that my trip would be ending in a few days i suddenly realized that i would soon be back home in my own bed, without the cloud. I immediately got online and began shopping for a feather bed. Overstock was the only internet site that offered a multiple variety of feather beds. I love it! i plan on purchasing a few more for my guest bedrooms. The only thing that i would advise is a cover. I recall reading somewhere that humans will spend fifty percent of their lives in bed. if you own a featherbed, without a doubt you can increase that percentage!

True Luxury (EssieBee, TX, 2008-03-27)

This is my second purchase of this item. I liked the first one so much, I got another one for a different bed. The quality is very good. It doesn't bunch or flatten. Naturally you have to fluff it up every couple of days. Very seldom do I feel a feather poke through the cover, but this is rare. I put a sheet on the mattress, then a separate sheet over the featherbed so I can fluff it more easily and to keep the errant feather from poking me. There is nothing so luxurious as sinking into a high loft featherbed like this one. It is your own little cocoon. The first one I bought I put over a Tempurpedic bed because the bed is so hard. This one I put over a Sleep Number bed. Both are super comfortable, and a real bargin at this price.

Happy with purchase (Krysalis, Chicago, IL, 2008-07-07)

I bought this featherbed in hopes of making my old mattresses more comfortable. It was definitely a good buy for the money, and I've been sleeping much better since I purchased it. I did not buy a cover, and the feathers do poke a bit, but I put it under my mattress cover, and that extra layer of protection made a big difference. I fluff it whenever I change the sheets, and it holds its loft well between times. The only slightly negative thing about the featherbed is that it does make for slightly warmer sleeping. Which will be great in the winter, but in the summer means I have the fan on more than usual. Not a huge deal by any means, and the comfort more than makes up for it. I would definitely recommend.
