A lovely value but with some cautions (Verdi, Washington State, 2008-01-12)

This is a beautiful set, and the colors in the photo are true enought to allow me to predict accurately that it would look wonderful in my bedroom with dark green walls and ecru accents. Customers should be aware, however, that the colors in person are more muted than bright, with a smoky undertone to the hues. This is a true quilt rather than a comforter. As such it is physically heavier than a comforter, though only of medium weight. Also it will not be as warm as a comforter, and most will probably want to combine it with a blanket or two, as I do in a house with nightime temps at 65 or lower. Being impatient, I did not launder it before using, so I can't be sure of those results. The fabric is 100% cotton of only a moderately dense weave, so I will wash it in cold water and line dry it. I did not note any unpleasant odor, as others have observed. I did air it for a day or so before using it, however. The big issue here for many purchasers is likely to be the size. Because of what others had said on this subject (thanks to them), I chose a king-sized set for my somewhat-high-rise full-sized bed, and am glad I did. My aim was to have the quilt be floor-length, and while it is long enough for that, the width is insufficient to use the quilt without a bedskirt. The photo on the website is misleading; it is just very unlikely that the majority of clients will be able to obtain the floor-length look. And it is true that the shams are standard rather than king-sized with the king-sized set. However, I shold be clear: I love my set and would recommend it to anyone, with the caveats noted above.

Beautiful quilt at a great price! (avram, North Carolina, 2008-05-31)

I wasn't sure when I ordered this quilt if the colors would look the same as on my computer screen, but that wasn't a problem because this quilt manages to include almost any color you would like. I chose to highlight the greens and yellows in the quilt when I purchased accent pieces such as a dust ruffle (vertical stripes-great looking!) and window treatments. Almost any color or pattern will go with this quilt! I bought a king size one first for my queen size mattress, to see if it could be used as a bedspread, and it almost fit if you don't want the quilt to cover your sleep pillows. In addition, I ordered a queen size, which fit beautifully, and is generously proportioned. I have a 3" foam topper on my bed, and the queen size quilt still hangs perfectly. I am using the king size quilt as a sort of throw, and plan to buy a quilt stand to hang it on. I was able to coordinate a green/red/yellow vertical stripe bedskirt, along with extra pillow shams (european size) of the same vertical pattern. I chose window treatments that had a yellow base with various colored florals on them. All together, I love the look I was able to achieve just by pulling certain colors out of the quilt for the coordinating pieces, and I love the fact that it doesn't have that (matchy-matchy) look to it. Instead, it has the look of having been done by a professional decorator. Buy this quilt - you won't be disappointed!

Maybe I would recomend, depends on what one wants. (SiremaSnow, Sirema, little red hen, deep in the heart of Texas, 2008-07-29)

The first thing I noticed was the strong vinagary dye smell, washed it many times(water never was clear) and the vinagar smell left, but then I thought it smelled like tabaco(not to strong to disturbe me though). I am very sensitive in the smell department, so if you are not, this probably won't bother you. Also a very rough pilling was produced with my numerous washings. I only dryed it once. I wonder if this has hemp in it? The color it didn't look as bright as pictured, I would guess they tweaked the saturation and contrast on the posted stock picture.(This was very disapointing for me as I like bright colors and was going to make my own quilt, but thought this one was great and would save me time.) My king size came with standard pillow covers. I am trying to match the colors to make my own pillow covers. I am keeping it, I still like it and don't want the hassel of a return, or for my husband to critizise another of my return purchases. I would say if you like muted colors and don't mind if it is a bit rough, and don't need king size pillows then you probably will enjoy this quilt. For all the negatives that I have mentioned it still seems like a higher quality quilt than you would normaly find for the price. I do love online shopping and find Overstock to be a consistantly good value!

Curl up in comfort w/ this vintage inspired quilt! (ShaBByVTcHic, The Green Mountain State of Vermont, 2008-03-10)

I came to Overstock this time around to find and purchase two coordinating quilt sets for my little daughters... I have been happy with my bedding purchases from Overstock in the past. As I reviewed the many quilt sets available here, I spotted this one and decided to treat myself... and also secretly hoped it would motivate me to get moving on our bedroom renovation. I usually do not purchase bedding in advance of a plan... wall color, etc., but thought I would not be limiting myself with the purchase of this quilt as it lends itself to many different color combinations and choices. This quilt set arrived via Fed Ex this morning, and I couldn't be happier. It is a thin quilt, but heavy in weight... just the way I like it. The colors are definitively more muted than pictured, but I expected that as I had read the many other reviews where buyers had commented on the muted appearance. Still, it is very pretty... just not as jewel popping as pictured. I ordered a king for our queen sized bed. I like the oversized look, and it also mostly eliminates our need for a bedskirt. This vintage chic inspired quilt certainly has an Old World, Tuscan feel to it, and will instantly add warmth and drama to your bedroom for hardly any money at all.

Wow, Im extremely happy with this purchase (Grl27, Tustin, CA, 2008-06-04)

I ordered my quilt and received it in less than a week. I was kind of affraid it was going to be faded since Id read in a few other reviews that the colors werent very bright. I didnt have this experience though. The colors are very vibrant. The red is a deep burgundy and the greens are a bit mossy. It's a quilt and so I expected it to look a little worn. Quilts are made with cotton fabrics so they are meant to look like that. This quilt is very colorful though and looks great in my home. I have tan walls and red velvet curtains... wow, it really brightened up the place! My husband that usually sweats in the night because he's so hot, is now sleeping just fine and Im usually freezing, but this quilt is just right for me too. I put an under blanket underneath and it adds more warmth for me. The quit itself is a good sturdy thickness though and I got the king size for my Queen bed and its true, you dont really need a dust ruffle, its plenty big enough. Also, the smell when we took it out of the box wasnt that bad. We put it on the bed and two days later it was gone. I definately recommend this quilt... infact I recommended it to my mom, she loved it and got a similar one for herself. You can NOT beat the price.
