Sturdy, but not fine furniture (SusanInAlbanyNY, Albany, NY, 2008-08-25)

-- We ordered this bench to use while taking shoes off when we come in from outdoors. It is ideal for this purpose, as it has a small footprint and space underneath for a shoe tray (commonly sold here in New York). -- The bench comes assembled, save for the leg sets that attach on either side. At first glance, it appears as if assembly should go smoothly and be a one-person job. There are only 8 bolts holding the legs on, 4 per side. If the holes had been accurately drilled, assembly would have indeed been simple. Unfortunately, the unit we received (a handsome black and natural wood one) has quality issues. We had to ream out 2 of the holes, and struggled to get 2 other bolt sets threaded...so half the bolt sets didn't go in as they should have. We found this frustrating. Also, one of the drawer guides had come completely loose (presumably in shipping), and we ended up using carpenter's glue to fix it in place. The drawer guide appeared to have been originally held in place by a single brad. This is hardly adequate, and one reason I downrated the product for durability and construction. I probably should have glued all the guides while I was at it, and would suggest you examine yours and perhaps glue and allow them to sit overnight before assembling the bench. -- Once assembled, the bench is sturdy with sufficient space for 2 adults to sit. While attractive, it's definitely not fine furniture. The finish is acceptable, but not the quality most would want in an indoor piece....and it's doubtful it would last as an outdoor one. If you plan to use the bench outdoors in a climate with severe weather, it should probably be sheltered from the elements. -- As others have commented, the 3 drawers in the bench are quite small; with an interior depth of only 9.5", they are too shallow for more than a couple pair of gloves. There is sufficient space for the drawer design to have been improved significantly. -- Bottom line: while a sturdy bench, design and quality issues detract from its value.

acacia storage benches (fander, LA, 2008-05-27)

i love these benches yes ordered two. needed underneath flat screen in bedroom excellent storage kinda mudd room effect. they are made of real wood the two tones matched decor in room. the colors are exactly as seen impressive. easy to assemble 15min. sits well sturdy. i ordered the white and oak color and the white is real white not yellow, and the oak is just as it is was shown. although i feel the packaging was secure the box weight was poor for the ends of the bench had some damage due to type box. that's why i gave it 4 stars on appearance.

The bench is perfect for what I needed it for. It requires minimal effort to put together. Mine had a small crack in it but it did not affect the construction or look of it so I kept it. For the price, it is a nice bench with storage.
