Down and feather-filled products are packed tightly during shipping. Upon receipt, remove them from their packaging, fluff gently, and allow several hours to recover their full loft. In addition, being sealed in plastic packaging sometimes causes the scent of these natural products to concentrate to a disagreeable level. A few hours of airing usually removes the odor.

Disappointed in the beginning.....but not anymore! (MommyinFL, Orlando, FL, 2008-02-02)

Living in New York most of my life, I had bought many down comforters for the cold winter nights. Having moved to Florida recently, I was looking for a down comforter that kept us warm during the mild winters here ...something that was light and did not weigh a ton, when duvet cover was on. Received this comforter but was not impressed at first. It arrived flat, with speckles of black feathers showing through. It also had a very strong bird/feather odor which bothered me lots! (I have 2 other lofty and more pricier down comforters which never had that initial smell when I bought them.) Those other comforters allowed a cold gentle wash on their care labels .Though this new comforter was to be DRY CLEANED ONLY, I went ahead and washed this new comforter in the machine like my others (hopefully to get the smell out) and placed it in the dryer on low heat. Amazingly, the washer/dryer did the trick! Not only did the comforter lose the smell, but the dryer fluffed up the feathers and made it much loftier! Thought I had made a mistake in buying this item, but now I'm actually happy I put it in the wash first! I like it alot now - not bad for the price! I would buy another one,

Great Item, Great Price (tabitha44, Los Angeles, 2008-02-24)

My husband and I realized that the reason why we steal each other's side of the blanket is that we like to wrap it around our individual selves in our sleep. I considered mummy sleeping bags as this would solve the "you stole the blanket" debate of '08, but instead I sought out a new full/queen sized duvet so that I actually had something covering me (oh, and him too). The duvet arrived well packaged, in fact so tightly packed it was a challenge to get it out. I would have liked the plastic cover to be reusable with straps for storage but that was just wishful thinking. The duvet is not super puffy which is nice if you like a clean looking bed instead of a lumpy duvet where all feathers get pushed to one side and it looks like there is a small animal or two hiding under the covers. It fit perfectly into the duvet cover and ah! when I laid it on our full sized bed, there was more than enough room on either side. Bliss! I live in Southern California, and being from the east coast this blanket would not be warm enough for wintertime, but it would certainly be a great layer. So far it is structurally sound; I hope to share it for a long time.

Outstanding!!! (karafromsantaclara, CA., 2008-01-11)

I have owned this comforter for four years now and it is superb. When it's hot I just use this, when cold, layer, but it has not left my bed except for cleaning since I bought it!!! I know it says dry clean only, but it's white and I use it all the time, so I tried at first washing it cold/gentle cycle, no problems. Later, that didn't suffice because it lost it's crisp white color, so I washed it in warm/regular, better. Now, as in the past 2 years it's hot water, bleach and normal cycle. The fabric comes clean and is incredibly durable, out of the dryer all fluffy and pristine. Yes, a few feathers poke out every now and then, but there has never been any tearing or unusual wear, why pay $$$ to have an under 30 dollar blanket cleaned with nasty chemicals??? If and when this one wears out I will salvage and sew into a lap blanket and buy another for my bed. This has been one of the best purchases I've ever made hands down...

Suprised (leesers, Syracuse, NY, 2008-02-06)

When I first opened the package that the comforter came out of I was extremely suprised. I had purchased a down comforter in the past from Overstock and was extremely pleased with it but this time I was a little disappointed with what I received. There was an odor to the comforter when I first took it out of the box that I wasn't prepared for. Also, this comforter's material was not like the other that I purchased. It is more stiff and makes a crackling noise when you move it. I don't like that at all but I decided to keep it thinking maybe it would eventually go away. I have had it for about a month now and it stills makes a crinkling noise. It also doesn't keep me as warm as the other one that I purchased from Overstock. I paid a little bit more for the one I purchased in the past and now I know why.

It's Great! (meganchristine, Lincoln, NE, 2008-01-15)

The comforter is amazing. It is exactly the weight we were looking for and only a third the cost of competitors. After reading some of the other reviews with warnings regarding the thickness, sound and smell, I was hesitant. The actual product does not have any of these issues, however. It did take a couple of hours to expand from being compressed to ship, but now it is great. I did appreciate the recommendation to get a king sized comforter for a queen sized bed. It had been a great pet peeve of mine that full/queen comforters are too small, especially if you fight for the covers with your husband like I do. The king fits perfectly. It is so great, I actually got a second one as a Christmas gift from someone else that had heard about how great this product was, and so now my guest bed has one too!
