Memory foam products are packed tightly during shipping. Upon receipt, remove them from their packaging and allow several hours to recover their full shape. In addition, being sealed in plastic packaging sometimes causes an odor. A few hours of airing usually removes the odor.

Finally Free of Back Pain (AlabamaYankee, Jacksonville, AL, 2008-06-16)

I have been suffering from severe lower back pain almost from the minute I lay down at night on my 22 year old pillow top EXPENSIVE mattress. I would wake and get up several times each night or just toss and turn and rearrange pillows every night. I even placed soft pillows below my lower spine with no help. This has gone on for nearly 2 years now. I was even going to have a doctor check me out for the beginnings of problems with my sciatic area. I finally invested in this memory foam mattress topper because of the "Cool Max" feature. From the very first night I used this, the pain in my lower back and hip completely stopped. I have slept comfortably all through the night (except if the cats jump on ME) I don't even feel them jumping up on the bed anymore! I look forward to many more restful nights of sleep in the future. There was NO smell when I unwrapped it. The box with the king size sleeper WAS heavy..... about 50 pounds. So it was a bit of a struggle to do this myself but once on the bed and unwrapped, I was able to put a deep pocket fitted sheet over it immediately and make up the bed. There really was no waitinig time for a smell to subside or for the mattress to full lay flat. All in all, lifitng it up two flights of steps and getting it on the bed and the bed made up took me about half an hour. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for offering this wonderful product.

it's ok... (dmaurio, philadelphia, pa, 2008-08-25)

I've had this mattress pad for a couple of months... it's "ok"... not great, not bad... just "ok"... Honestly I don't know if it's my mattress or the pad but I put it on my bed and it hasn't been that much of a difference. I think if i had a newer mattress it would be a better improvement but since my mattress sinks in the middle a little, the foam kind of follows suit and does the same. The first few days are great as a novelty, but after that, I really can't tell the difference, and honestly I wish I had invested the money in a new mattress, rather than this topper. I haven't noticed a difference in sleep quality, or in the comfort of my bed, it's just kind of been a little more "squishy" than normal... but waking up, nothing better to report. If you have a mattress that isn't up to snuff don't think that this will fix it, i think this topper would be much better suited covering a newer mattress rather than trying to revive an older one. Don't get me wrong, it's definitely softer and more comfortable than just my mattress, but I think a new mattress would have been even better than this, it's just not... "there" if you know what I mean. All in all if I had to come up with a word to describe it.... it would be mediocre.... at best... don't waste your time or money, go out and get a better mattress.

Not as cool (bubblebetta, Ohio, 2008-07-23)

I bought this Mem-Cool Mattress Topper just because I thought it would help you stay cool while sleeping. By the discription it is to help dissipate heat from your body. I do not think it does this at all!! I actually get extremely Hot and uncomfortable.My husband says he dont feel like this though, so maybe its just me..I have never had a memory foam mattress topper before I purchased this one.. But for the price, I could have bought a bulk item memory foam and got 2 for the price of 1.. I can say its very soft and comfortable to sleep on,as we were in desperate need of a new mattress and I figured I could save some money in these days and times by purchasing this topper instead of going out and purchasing a whole new mattress at Alot more money. After sleeping on Memory Foam, I will always have this..Just to mention, I did purchase the California King size and it is still a hair smaller than my actual mattress. Doesn't bother us though,just thought someone out there might feel differently.. Mattress pad and sheets fit over the topper and mattress very well. Actually stay Nice and snug..

Comfort affordable (Stamkim, , 2008-08-28)

I have a wonderful mattress that we paid $3500 for at our home. Ever since we got the mattress when we go to our lake house our bed there was extremely uncomfortable. It is a weekend place and we do not want to invest alot of money in another good mattress. I decided to get one of the mem-cool foam mattress topper and it was the right choice. Both of us agree that it is just as comfortable as our expensive bed and it is cooler to sleep on, which surprised us as we bought the latex & memory foam bed that was supposed to be cooler than just the memory foam. For the money it is an awesome product, very comfortable and affordable. The only thing that disappointed me was the size of the mattress topper is slightly smaller than the standard size of a queen bed. The smell is over powering :the first day you do need to air it out, but after that you do not smell it. I would highly recommend it to a friend and have.

Sleep improvement (Sunnyshopper, San Diego County, CA, 2008-07-17)

I ordered two of these 4" memory foams. One is for a sofa bed which was nice but a bit over-firm. The other was for a memory foam mattress which is no longer as comfortable as it was when I bought it ten years ago. Both new foam pads are excellent in the comfort aspect. however, both arrived with tears in the edges which makes me woder how long they will hold up. They seem somewhat fragile. I could have returned them but they are big and heavy, so I am loathe to take on such a big task - I don't have the time or the lifting power. So yes, a five for comfort but a two for quality. Three cheers to Overstock for this review process - it makes shopping online much more reliable - I always read the reviews and thank all those who write them.
