Handmade by artisans in Vietnam, this painting is a multi-cultural compilation of Chinese and French influences merged with traditional Vietnamese lacquer techniques
The drawings are sketched by hand on a black painting board, then carefully painted, adding different colors with every coat
The paintings are then lacquered, sun-dried, and re-lacquered up to eight separate times
The painting has a hook on the back for hanging
Painting measures 16 inches high x 16 inches long x 1 inch wide
Painted on pressed bamboo wood
Picture is hand-painted on a square piece of wood (16 x 16)
Covered with a coat of lacquer to protect the painting

The Story Behind the Product

Binh Duong province which is located immediately to the north of Ho Chi Minh City, is situated on relatively level terrain, and is crossed by the Saigon, Dong Nai and Be rivers. Lacquer ware made here, provides a living for 100 plus artisans. Your order helps them to improve their lives and that of their families. Artisans have passed down these traditions for over 4000 years and their techniques are very similar to Chinese and Japanese lacquer ware.
